Silent films! Nos-fergot to post this on time. :D

The birth of cinema was a glorious time. One filled with lack of colour, sound and well... a story line for that matter.  But as it progressed, the film indistry became a way for people to escape their lives by laughing along with Charlie Chaplin, taking a trip to the moon with some astronauts and even running away from a scary vampire.  The films of this eara didn't depend on special evects to reel in their viewers (all though "A Trip To The Moon" is pretty ground breaking) it relyed on a good story, good acting and the heart warming sound... of Benny Hill. (or Nosferatu's beautiful face)

Over the curse of 100 years or so our way of looking at movies has changed. For most, if the movie doesn't have an explosions and killing every 5 minute, then they aren't interested. Also, with the lack of sound and the hastle of the teenage viewer actualy having to read some thing, they tend to be turned away almost immediately.  Now im sorry to sum up our generation up as such a simple minded and easily amused bunch, but it's true. (for the most part)

So of course an old silent film can still be considered good. Times doesn't change the quality of the movie, time only changes the quality of the viewer.  I personaly would rather watch "Nosferatu" over any of the "Twilight" movies. (.. ya I went there..)  but I think speak for every teenage guy when I say "Edward... take a good look at Nosferatu. That is a real man!"
